Hi my lovely bubs 🙂
Today I’ll be showing you how to eat vegan everywhere you go- even in the most non-vegan places you could imagine! I’ve been having some conversations with my friends lately about how they keep on having “accidents” when they are out with their friends and did not pack any food. Well no more!
Yes, it is indeed possible to eat vegan at Subway! For vegan bread just order one of these:
- Hearty Italian,
Then customize it with your favorite veggies and choose one of these sauces:
- Sweet onion sauce
- Deli brown mustard
- Vinegar ( not the vinaigrette!!)
- Yellow mustard
- Fat-free Italian dressing
For vegan sides, you can go with Apple slices, Lay’s Classic chips, SunChips Original or Oven Baked Lay’s. If you’re not into carbs for some reason, you can get the Veggie Delite Salad and add your favorite veggies.
Ok, so the good news is, the black beans and slow-cooked beans are vegan at all locations!! The bad news, the rice is not. But you can actually veganize pretty much every meal on their menu, just order your stuff, replace meat with beans, stay away from rice, cheese, and sour cream, check if it’s really vegan with them again and VOILÀ: you’re good. By the way, the fries are all vegan, and so is the guac so definitely get some of those!
Choose a Chipotle’s burrito, a soft or crispy taco, or bowl, and fill it up with these:
- Sofritas (shredded tofu + chipotle peppers + roasted poblanos, and spices)
- Rice (brown or white)
- Beans (black or pinto)
- Fajita vegetables (green peppers + red onions + salt + oregano, and rice bran oil)
- Chips + salsa
- Order a Crunchwrap Supreme, remove the beef, sour cream and cheese and add black beans!
- The Bean Burrito
- Order the Power Menu Burrito – Veggie and remove cheese, sour cream and ranch sauce.
- Order a crunchy or soft taco, and replace the meat with black beans.
- Order the Spicy Tostada and remove the cheese and chipotle sauce
- You can find a list of all their vegan ingredients on their website here
Make sure to order all your pizzas without cheese!

**Note: Personally, I don’t eat at McDonald’s & co, since I don’t want to support them knowing how big they are when it comes to influencing the Animal Agriculture. I think it’s important we think twice who we give our money too and which companies we support. But if anyone ever ends up there, in the middle of the night, drunk with their friends, I at least want you guys to know your options before you end up ordering something worse, so here we go:**
If you ever find yourself at Mcdonalds, run. If you can’t run, get some:
- apple pie pockets (depends where you’re form, check first)
- fries (depends where you’re form, check first)
- hash browns
- vegetable deluxe without the sandwich sauce
- orange juice
- apple slices
- fruit & maple oatmeal
- a side salad
- a coffee- and then run.
The few vegan things on the menu are:
- shaker fries
- Veggie Bean Burger without sauce or cheese
- the Kid’s veggie burger
Even though I cannot imagine how a vegan would end up sitting in a KFC, these are the vegan options on their menu:
- corn on the cob
- green beans
- house salad with golden Italian Light Dressing
**please correct me if I’m wrong with anything, some things might change or won’t be vegan in different countries)
Street food and restaurants:
Look at the card. If you like garlic, you can always go for a simple pasta aglio e olio (which is just pasta, oil and garlic) or ask for just plain old pasta with tomato sauce. Most of the time, I just quickly tell them I’m a vegan (or if that makes you uncomfortable for any reason, you can always play the allergic card), choose a vegetarian plate and ask if they can make it without any cheese, milk or egg in it. Same goes for pizza. I normally ask if they have milk in their pizza crust just to be a 100% safe and ask for a veggie topping. Once I know a place has nothing bad in their crust, I ask for some onions/ my favorite veggies on top.
I don’t know about you, but I have always loved going to Chinese restaurants. They usually won’t have anything “vegan” labeled on their menu, but you’ll walk out of there with a full tummy 9/10 times. I just go for a yummy vegetarian meal, which in my case is fried rice with veggies or fried noodles with veggies. Just make sure they have no eggs in their noodles (they often do) and if they have none without egg, go for rice. Also, most of the time their spring rolls will be vegan and many of their soups and salads as well. You will normally find LOTS of vegan sushi as well. Bon appetit!
This is an easy one too. Most vegans will panic by the sight of the huge grilled beef skewers, but bare with me: ask for a kebab without meat and sauce. They will fill it up with yummy salad and veggies and sometimes even have a sauce without milk in them. Most of the time, they have fries as well, just make sure to ask if they are not fried in the same oil as any meat they serve & don’t forget your side of ketchup! Also, kebab places usually have vegan falafel which tastes amazing and is a nice substitute for meat.
Again, just to be safe, ask if they have any milk/ eggs in their buns (which they normally don’t) and look for a vegetarian burger. Normally all it takes to veganize it is to order it without cheese. If you want to get a side of fries, don’t forget to ask if it’s fried in the same oil as any meat. Tadaa: a delicious vegan burger in the most un-vegan place of the world: a burger house.
Find out if their beans contain lard. If they don’t, just substitute the meat for beans and skip on the ceese and sour cream. Of course, you can always go for some chips with salsa and guac or ask for potato tacos with guac and veggies! Yumm.
Of course, there is so much more, so if you can think of anything more, leave a comment! Also, if you’ve read until here, thank you so much! Please feel free share this article as much as you like to help me share the vegan wisdom 😀
Have an amazing day <3
